Commanderie 2015 Choices
First Place Château BrûleSécaille
AOP Côtes de Bourg, 2015. Bright red fruits, silky tannins, particularly for such a young wine - lovely ripe fruit, and great balance.
Timeless Wines offers Brûle Sécaille from $22 to $25 per bottle, free shipping. “Through our winery license, we can ship to pretty much any state”. Cooling with a PCM unit (Phase Change Modulation) is an option.
“Château BrûleSécaille was classified as a « cru bourgeois » wine in the book « BORDEAUX ET SES VINS » second edition by Cocks & Feret in 1868.
The Family Rodet Recapet has been working on the property since 1924, producing red wine. The production of white & rosé wine started in the 90’s.” They have added other properties as Château La Gravière AOP Côtes de Bourg & Château Yon Saint Christophe AOP Saint-Emilion.
They are 30ha (28ha in Côtes de Bourg & 2ha in Saint-Emilion), all certified High Environmental Value (HEV), the highest level of a generalized scheme for the environmental certification by the French ministry for agriculture & food.
Second Place Château Saint-André Corbin
From one of a pair of estates owned by the Saby family, this wine is powerful with tannins and rich with blackberry fruits. A perfumed character gives it spice as well as great fruitiness. This wine will age well, so wait to drink until 2022. The nose is framed in cedary oak and delivers an attractive core of bright, ripe red and purple fruit. The palate has an assertive, bright and nicely structured core with fresh acidity at the finish. Drink or hold.
This sumptuous wine is generous and packed with fruit. Behind the swathes of ripe black-plum flavors lie firmer tannins and a dense structure that will allow the wine to age. Drink from 2022.
